Work That Feels Lively, Busy and Hands-On
Snow Cream is a small team with clear responsibilities and a strong service culture. We work across our store in Umhlanga and at parties, school functions, corporate bookings, weddings and festivals in Durban, Ballito, Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg and surrounding areas. Some days are quiet and precise, other days are full of moving parts, so we need people who can stay calm and keep standards steady.
We hire for roles in front of house, operations, catering, customer care and events support. Depending on the season, we may also look for people who can help with setup, stock handling, dessert preparation and serving at live stations. If you are reliable, neat and comfortable speaking with customers, you will fit in well.
The Kind of Roles We Commonly Hire For
We do not keep people in fixed boxes. A good team member often learns more than one part of the business, especially during busy weekends and school holidays. That helps us cover in store service and off site catering without dropping our pace or quality.
- Store front service and customer assistance
- Dessert preparation and topping station support
- Catering and event setup assistance
- Live serving station support at private and corporate functions
- Operations and stock control support
- Customer experience and booking coordination
Experience in food service, events or hospitality helps, but it is not the only thing we look at. A strong work ethic, good communication and a willingness to learn matter just as much.
What We Look For in New Team Members
Because we serve food and work at public events, we need people who can follow instructions carefully and keep things clean. Durban heat, load-shedding and event timing can make a shift unpredictable, so practical thinking goes a long way. You should be comfortable working on your feet, helping with setup and keeping an eye on presentation and hygiene.
- Friendly, respectful communication with customers and teammates
- Neat personal presentation and good hygiene habits
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and event hours
- Ability to stay organised during busy service periods
- Basic numeracy and attention to detail
If you have worked in catering, retail, hospitality or events before, that is helpful. If not, and you are serious about learning you can still apply.
A Team Built Around Service and Consistency
Snow Cream is led by Nokuthula Zanele Mthembu, with Jason Naidoo managing operations, Ayanda Khumalo coordinating events, Megan Pillay supervising the store, Sibusiso Dlamini leading catering and Leanne Govender managing customer experience. That means new staff are supported by people who know the work closely and understand what it takes to serve families, schools, offices and event planners well.
We expect accountability, teamwork and respect for the customer. In return, we offer a workplace where good effort is noticed, and where people can grow by learning different parts of the business. It is proper hands-on work, not just standing behind a counter.
How to Apply Through the Contact Page
If you want to work with us, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and let us know what kind of role you are interested in. Please include your location, availability and any relevant experience in food service, events or customer care. If you have worked with large groups, live serving stations or mobile catering, mention that too.
We review applications as roles come up across our Durban and Gauteng operations. Please note that we do not publish an open vacancy list with dates, so the best way to be considered is to submit your details directly through the enquiry form.
Why People Choose to Build Experience Here
Working with Snow Cream gives you exposure to store service, event catering and customer-facing work in a fast moving business. You may help with a children’s birthday party in Umhlanga one day and a corporate event in Sandton the next, so the work stays varied and practical. For people who want to build confidence and learn real service skills, it is a solid place to start.
- Experience across store, event and catering environments
- Exposure to customers from Durban, Ballito, Pietermaritzburg and Johannesburg
- Hands-on learning in food presentation and service standards
- Work that suits organised, energetic people
If that sounds like you, send through your CV and introduce yourself. We are always glad to hear from people who want to grow with a business that values good service and steady work.
